Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I prepared for the exam by dissecting each section and identifying the best strategies for answering questions. Part of this section was focused on reading comprehension, which will be the most challenging for her. I advised her to study the reasoning from her practice SSAT book and to look out for key words used on the reading comprehension section of the actual test. I believe she will do well on the exam."
"We started with vocabulary review. The words we reviewed were assigned as homework for the week. We reviewed the words in chunks then as a whole group until she understood them. This instruction was broken up with two timed essays. After reviewing them together, I could tell she showed improvement and is prepared for her test the following day."
"We spilt the time into thirds today, and worked on math review (word problems in particular), synonyms and analogies, and reading comprehension questions having to do with tone, mood, and author intent. We reviewed the basic strategies for approaching the questions as well, as her test is coming up soon."
