Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In today's session, we focused more on stoichiometry and conversions. The student was able to successfully complete a homework assignment for credit and she felt great about her progress. After the past two sessions, she is well prepared for a quiz that she has tomorrow and we are looking forward to seeing great results."
"We covered the students' review questions for the exam on Friday, which includes calculating heat, enthalpy and dimensional analysis. The students' knowledge of dimensional analysis will be their advantage on the exam."
"Today, the student and I went over his review sheet on calculating the limiting reagent in a reaction. We went over conceptual details of why a reactant would be limiting and how that affects the reaction as a whole. He seems very comfortable at this point with his equations, converting grams to moles and comparing mole ratios to find the limiting reactant. Problems that were asking a question that was slightly different definitely stumped him. Maybe this is because he has never seen problems formatted in this way but I want to get him comfortable enough with critical thinking so that he can conquer any problem that is thrown at him. When he was confused on any of these problems, I showed him the correct approach to starting the problem, explained the relevant information that he already knows, and let him finish the problem. I gave him some practice problems that were in slightly different form to see if he could figure out how to look past the difference in wording to realize that it is the same problems he has done over and over again. I saw that he knows the material pretty well."
