Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"I met with the student yesterday. We discussed sequences and how to determine if a sequence was convergent or not. We worked through some of his homework problems. At the end of our session, I felt that the student had a better understanding of the methods used to show whether a sequence is convergent or divergent."
"Permutations and Combinations: Finding the sample space for problems. Determining the number of outcomes for a given probability. For example: If probability of making a successful phone call is 20% over the day. What is the probability of 6 making 6 successful phone calls? No successful phone calls? At least one successful phone call. Discuss different ways of solving the problem and finding an approach that was most intuitive and most "checkable" (for exams) Probability (8.7)"
"Worked with the student on language arts, reading, vocabulary, and math sections of the upcoming assessment test. Also helped him with his math homework. He has greatly improved his knowledge of multiplication tables. "
"For our first session we started going over a practice test so that I could see what he could do and what he couldn't do. I was pleased to learn that he was good with percentages and some basic algebra. We reviewed some of the intermediate concepts of algebra and geometry. We even took a brief glimpse at trig when we encountered a question that pertained to it."
"This week we looked specifically at reading and which ones to skip the student is getting more comfortable with skipping questions she doesn't have a good guess on, and she is better at her vocabulary. She also remembered to look for the most broad answer that specifically answers the question, and she did well on the first section of reading. She is definitely learning to skip better."
