Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the verbal sections and math sections of the SSAT. We went over vocabulary, process of elimination, and sentence strategies for the verbal section. The student will be able to answer more questions correctly once she studies vocab more. She has the most difficulty with the math section, so we will continue to focus on it. We reviewed triangle formulas, estimation, and basic algebra this session. Continuous practice will increase her score. I also assigned her math problems to complete before tomorrow night. Overall, it was a good session."
"I went over the math homework the student had done in addition to a lot of vocabulary and analogies practice. Her strengths are definitely centered in math as there is a decent amount of vocabulary she did not know. Regardless of this she is still really good when it comes to analogies. Problems just arise when she doesn't know the vocabulary."
"First we reviewed some of the vocabulary words. She struggled with the majority of them. Next we went over two of the three essays I assigned as homework. She did very well and you can see an improvement. Narrative writing is her strength and expository writing is good but not as strong. Tomorrow we will focus on expository essays. After review, we went back through one third of the vocabulary words until she answered them correctly. Last, we thought of common themes in her favorite book, song, and poem to use as references during the test."
