Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on the verbal, reading, and quantitative sections. I timed him. I am going to time him again on Friday with fresh material so he can get used to working under timed conditions."
"The student and I went over the problems she missed from the math and quantitative portions on a practice test. We also discussed test taking strategies to prevent her from feeling overwhelmed during the exam. She knows the majority of concepts covered by the test. I encouraged her to slow down and skip questions she finds intimidating, saving them for the end. She plans to do another practice test before our next session on the 3rd."
"The student and I covered a large portion of math during this session. We completed a thorough review of the math achievement section of the diagnostic exam. While we did problems, she reviewed concepts such as solving for inequalities and absolute values, as well as slope and slope intercept forms. We also reviewed important area and volume formulas that may come up on the ISEE. After several practice problems, she seems to grasp these ideas well. In addition, this was the first time we reviewed an essay that the student was assigned. We will continue to work on formatting her essay into paragraphs and correcting minor grammar issues, but her ideas and examples are all above par. With practice, I am sure she will improve on her essay. I left her with a second practice test that includes all sections of the ISEE. She will time herself on these sections and complete the essay as well. This will test a lot of the material we have reviewed. She is on the right track to raising her score!"
