Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We are going through a couple of his assignment questions and discussing the deeper understanding of each mathematics formula meaning in reality."
"This week we continued to work through homework and class assignments. We are following up on working through SPSS. We are moving at a good pace. The student got her first grades back for this course and seems to be doing well."
"The student worked through her chapter 5 homework. The problems mostly dealt with correlation. We went over how to find R values and what they mean. We also went over equations that relate the line of best fit to the standard deviations and means of the x and y values of the data."
"We worked on adding one and two digit numbers with regrouping. It was a review of what he had been doing in school. He was struggling with regrouping some of the numbers such as 25 plus 45. He would bring down the ten instead of bringing down the zero and carrying the one over to the tens place. He was very determined to learn this concept. I included many strategies in order to assist him with learning this."
"The student is learning fractions, so we used a 3rd grade math workbook provided by her parents to practice writing factions and to talk about what they mean. She is very strong in the subject. I am working on getting her in the habit of checking her answers when she completes a problem."
"We worked on more assessment test prep today, focusing a lot on graphing. We went over different graphing techniques and ways to solve systems. We also did basic trig functions, as this was part of her assignment but never presented in class. We will return to more unit-based work next week and re-visit assessment test prep later on in the spring."
