Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student worked on his problem of the week. He figured out the solution quickly. Then he read several short stories. These stories were at the 6th grade level. He did a wonderful job picking out details and remembering ideas and important facts. I feel he is doing great at comprehension. He also corrected a sentence for punctuation and spelling. He could correct tenses and punctuate correctly. He only had problems spelling one word correctly. He is a very bright student."
"The student did not finish his assigned practice essay. He wrote most of it under my supervision in this session but still needs to finish his conclusion. Additionally, he is to write an essay on the topic, 'Is Math Important?' He is developing a better ability to write his thoughts into coherent paragraphs but, he needs to practice this skill in order to be successful. We also discussed strategies to avoid giving up on the test."
"To prepare for the student's test over finding volumes with integrals, we did some further practice of both vertically- and horizontally-rotating regions of integration, including both the "disk" method and the "washer" method. He had no trouble at all with the basics of each method, especially on vertically-rotating regions, and his algebraic simplification has improved greatly as well."
"In this session, the student and I had a thorough review of previous tests. He will see this material in the final exam. After this, we had a short review of his upcoming test material. We reviewed differentiation, chain rule, product rule, quotient rule, second derivatives, minima, maxima, critical points, critical values, inflection points, the mean value theorem, and sketching functions."
"The student and I began the session by finishing reading Chapter 5 in Flat Stanley. He then answered comprehension review questions. Next session we will re-read Chapter 5 and work on vocabulary fluency from these 2 chapters. This session we worked on reading fluency reading the vocabulary words from Chapters 3-4. Lastly, we practiced time by writing the digital time and then showing it on analog."

"I helped the student with her homework assignment for tonight's session. She had to write a short history in Chinese about her friendship, so after she had written the history in English, I guided her to translate into Chinese, corrected her sentence structure and grammar. By the end of the session, she had finished writing her friendship history in Chinese, and I proofread it twice."
"Student scored 89 on her test and is feeling happy about her progress. We covered lesson four on her workbook and started reviewing lesson three. She also learned to write a paragraph about her favorite actor."
"Today's session was very productive. The student and I were able to complete his homework and prepare him for his character quiz. So far he seems to be doing very well in class. His quiz scores are pretty good. His comprehension and listening skills are still improving which is a great sign."
