Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Student worked on addition and was timed. We did a speed exercise with addition. Ten problems for 30 seconds and lower. Also student needed to read a book. Student read the book and I questioned him on what was read. Also worked on his handwriting skills. Student wrote down things he had to do in his handwriting book."
"The student and I had our first session today. We began practicing some passages in the ACT English section, since that was her weakest area on the practice test. We went over some conventions, like punctuation and parallel structure of sentences."
"Continued by going over assigned homework questions. Reviewed usage of certain grammar points. Practiced more of the verbal section questions. Went over a plan of action for the next two weeks of homework."
"The student worked more on chemistry and Alg 2. We got into working with moles and converting into grams and molecules/atoms. He also practiced working with slope and using real life applications of slope as a rate of change."
"We started with a practice math section and went over specific struggles with that section. We then moved into the reading section, where we focused on strategies for decreasing time spent on the vocabulary questions. We practiced quickly skimming the questions and eliminating obvious answers and then going back over and thoroughly answering the questions; we then moved into reviewing specific vocabulary terms and strategies for guessing words based on sentence context and guessing definitions of answer choices based on current knowledge."
"Practiced relative pronouns and clauses. The student did great. He had already memorized his charts and quickly picked up how to recognize and translate them both from English to Latin and Latin to English. We also briefly reviewed verb tenses."
