Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We completed riddle sheets on multiplication with one-digit and two-digit numbers. We also talked about how to manage her time and remain calm while taking her tests, and the types of problems on her assessments, so we know what to focus on for the next few sessions."
"The majority of this session was spent examining the two ACT Science practice tests the student had completed.. On the test, the student scored much higher, due in part to fewer math-related questions and in part to his strong instincts on questions that would otherwise stump him. Afterwards, we began some ACT English prep materials, and I have asked the student to complete at least one practice test for our next session."
"After a short quiz administered for assessment purposes, we focused on vocabulary and present-tense verbs, both regular and irregular. We went over his homework that is due tomorrow, as well as discussed the importance of using the dictionary to look up individual words. We also discussed parts of speech and proper usage of articles. Overall, we practiced reading, writing, speaking, and listening."
"We went over some of the work he did over basic trig functions. We spend most of the time using properties of trig to find values, using sum and difference, multi-angle, and basic identities to solve for values, and simply expressions. We are almost done, going over all of his make up work for his class. My goal is to give the student a foundation in trig so he can be caught up in his pre-cal class."
"We covered more writing skills and critical reading skills. He has remembered skills we learned in the past few lessons, so I think he is progressing well. I have instructed him to read some strategies as well as keep up with the vocabulary lists. I also told him to do five sections of an SAT practice test by Sunday for us to review then."
"We went over some multiple-choice questions, focusing on the process of developing political opinions and tendencies of certain groups of people to align with certain parties. The student did really well, and was able to figure out most answers even if he wasn't sure of the answer right away. I am very pleased with his progress on that front."
