Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Continued practice for SAT with emphasis on Critical Reading and Writing sections, which were her weaker areas on the previous SAT. Reviewed reading and writing/grammar homework while referencing the grammar errors and parts of speech checklist we created. The student is doing very well on all parts of the writing section except for the error i.d. (roughly 1/3 of the questions), where she still struggles to identify the "no error" questions. In reading, she did well overall, missing only one vocab question, and several author intent or implication questions on the passage-based portion. After reviewing homework, we discussed the essay, and completed a brainstorm and bullet point outline for one of the sample essay questions in the book. She will complete the essay for homework."
"We went over the difficult problems in the take-home assignment. I then checked his answers on a proof worksheet and explained where the reasoning needed to be changed. We covered the challenging problems from the book assignment."
"Reviewed all the information that we've gone over previously as well as what the student is focusing on in class currently. Primarily spent time doing English to Latin and vice versa. He performed at his best today. The student comprehends the information well, he just needs to take his time and go through the proper steps when translating. If he continues a steady schedule of study, he should be fine."
"The student and I focused on math practice again during this session; we completed the math achievement section of the practice test, and then reviewed several topics listed at the back of the practice book (integers, fractions/decimals/percents, order of operations). We plan to continue reviewing math vocabulary and concepts in the next few weeks, he and I will meet next on Monday."
"The student and I did his homework for the following day and went over the work he had done at school. Some of the answers were wrong due to simple mistakes, but overall he did well. We did some practice he had received at school for the test. He did well, but needs to read the directions carefully and take his time filling out the answers."
"I worked a portion of a practice AP exam with the students and worked through the answers. There were different types of problems that were harder than others. They seemed to need some help with the calculation ones. I just worked through some of the thought process of answering questions and eliminating wrong answers. I left them some extra practice by identifying the underlying concepts of the questions."
