"Pre-assessment for 5th grade 2-3 digit multiplication Single divisor division Review of fractions The student knows basic equations."
"Studied and corrected previous exams. Progression appears to be sound and solid. Topics include long division, square roots, decimals, and fractions."
"We covered certain areas that she did not quite understand such as factors and working with positive and negative numbers. She has an assignment to complete which will give her practice."
"The student and I worked on more conversions today, this time with the metric system. She understood this one very well and was able to do most of the problems without any help. Once we were done with those problems we worked on converting ounces, pounds, etc. She did excellent on all her conversions today and it really showed!"
"The student and I reviewed homework from last time -- more mixed numbers and improper fractions and subtraction. She does great work when she focuses. We began to look at subtracting unlike denominators and the process of finding a common factor in improper fractions for denominators. I left her 3 problems for homework."
"The student has been working on unit rates and ratios. Tonight, she had homework on proportions. We reviewed the assignment together and discussed the importance of the labeling of the units in the proportion for each problem. Keeping the units specifically listed limits the chances of errors occurring while setting up the proportion. He did well with setting up the proportions for the assignment. We will meet on Tuesday."
