"The student and I continued to work on the critical reading section of the exam. We began by doing a live scoring of a practice section in which he successfully navigated a dual reading passage and a science-based passage. He performed incredibly well on the sentence completion section (going 7/8 with getting both of the most difficult questions correct). After this live scoring, I had him complete another section in real time and then reviewed his performance. He went 15/18 with one skipped question. He didn't manage to answer the hardest sentence completions, but that is a very common thing given the difficulty of these specific questions that are entirely dependent on vocabulary. As for the passage-based questions, he did very, very well given that the passage was a nineteenth century literary excerpt, and students often get tripped up on the style. He read and understood it, and he did so well within the twenty minutes. This is great progress that can only be improved with more and more practice."
"It was my first tutoring session with the student, and we went through her SAT book. I briefly discussed various strategies for taking the test such as eliminating answers."
"We reviewed questions the student had from his practice in the test prep book and did several practice questions from the online portal test bank."
