"We covered Diary of a Wimpy Kid, read a Garfield story, worked on summarizing, and practiced putting stories in the correct order. The student needs to work on going slow and sounding out words. She likes to read stories with pictures and play games, but gets really antsy when it comes time to answer questions. I wrote on the dry-erase board to explain how to pronounce words. I am seeing good progress -- she is reading with emotion and is understanding what she's reading."
"We covered: * Reviewed the 7 lists of phonetic blends as a speed drill. * He improved his reading time on all of them except one. * We read through the next phonetic blend list, making sure he understood each word. * He wrote the list down to take home to study. * We continued reading several pages a book."
"Today was the student and I's first session, and it went really well! We went over his homework, specifically his spelling and reading homework; he had a double-sided worksheet going over how to use suffixes. We went over past and present tense and the importance of consonants and vowels when changing the endings of verbs to -ed, -ing, -able, etc. and in doing so, went over the differences between adjectives, nouns, and verbs. We then created sentences using words with suffixes and went over what those sentences meant."
