Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student completed all of her homework for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for math and her spelling. For spelling, she wrote her spelling words 3 times each, wrote them in a sentence, and wrote about how she reused something since they were celebrating Earth Day. She did very well with this. The spelling words were the same because the class needed more practice with the words. For math, she started learning about telling time by the hour. She needed some help with this because it was brand new. Once she did a few questions, she picked it up. She was writing the hour and minute hand in on a clock face and then writing the time on a digital clock. Since she wanted to do more of her homework, I taught her how to tell time by the half hour. She placed the hour and minute hand on a clock face and wrote the time on a digital clock by the half hour. Very new concept for her but she got it. She also needs to be reminded that each number you count by 5s. I will review this next week with some supplemental work to make sure the concept is clear and mastered."
"The student was focused and participated in learning activities focusing on tracing the alphabet letters, sight words and reading out loud. She was friendly and answered WH-questions and identified concepts. Overall the session went well and next Saturday she will focus on holding the pencil correctly."
"We reviewed multiplication, division, commutative multiplication, and associative multiplication. We also practiced work problems. This will be our last tutoring session together."
"Tonight we went over an article the student need to use for an oral presentation tonight. We identified research questions, specific variables, and conclusions."
"The student had some homework to review regarding factoring using applicable methods. These were some tricky factoring problems, but we managed to figure them out! I taught the student some tricks on how to find like terms and factor out common terms from polynomials. We got enough practice with this and I was pleased that he understood the methods!"
"We went over percent ratios and algebraic equations. The student improved tremendously from last week when we covered similar material! We will be meeting again on Wednesday to practice converting decimals to percents."
