Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today we finished going over the student's math diagnostic test and reviewed the science diagnostic that he completed for homework. He did well on both and is at a good starting point for those two sections. He then did an English diagnostic, which we began going over, and will finish reviewing next week. For homework, he will complete the reading diagnostic test."
"For this session, we reviewed the mathematics section with an in-depth analysis of each problem and reviewing the basic math concepts behind each."
"We split our time between the essay, English, and math today. The student understood the essay section quickly, and she practiced brainstorming and formulating theses for two essay prompts. She will time herself and write one of the essays as homework this week. She did extremely well in English today. We went through one passage with me helping her through questions, and then she did a passage on her own. We went over passive vs. active and reviewed matching noun-verb pairs and independent-dependent clauses. When she did a section on her own, she finished ahead of the necessary pace. In math, her biggest issue is reading comprehension in the questions. Once she conceptually understands the premise of a question, she can usually solve it correctly. We will focus on word problems in future sessions. Also, the material will probably go beyond what she has learned in math classes once we go further into the math section."
