Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We did a comprehensive review of the material covered this semester. We organized the material and developed a strategy for her to study for the final on Tuesday."
"We went over some of the practice problems from yesterday. I also reviewed the general method of solving any stoichiometry problem."
"Today we went over Boyle's Lab, Charles' Law, Dalton's Law, Ideal Gas law, Real Gas Law, molality equations, and mole fraction equations. The student was engaged and attentive."
"We went over thermochemistry problems from both the packet the was provided from class and a few that prepared beforehand. The problems included the concepts of Hess' law, specific heat, matter state changes, and also calorimetry situations. The student has a good understanding of thermochemistry, and we will prepare for the final exam in the coming sessions. We practiced naming functional groups and also drawing them to memorize them for future concepts. For the next session, we will go over gas laws and also solution stoichiometry. He is continuing to show interest in chemistry and does very well understanding concept to apply them to problems."
"The student has a quiz on solubility and equilibrium tomorrow that she has heard is very difficult. We spent most of today's session reviewing for that quiz. She was specifically confused about when she should use which equilibrium constant, such as when to use Ksp vs Keq or Ka. We discussed these differences and did several practice problems. She was also struggling to understand how pressure put stress on equilibrium, so we worked on several practice problems with Le Chatelier's Principle as well. For the last 30 minutes we worked on a laboratory report about Ksp that is due Tuesday. She had no difficulty with the calculations, but struggled to connect Ksp to pKsp in the conclusion questions. We went over how pKsp, similar to pH, is a ratio of the concentrations while Ksp is just a product of the concentrations. By the end of the session she felt confident about tomorrow's quiz. We have one more session next week to study for her chemistry final."
"We went over the practice exam the student took in the review book and reviewed all the concepts she had questions on. We reviewed meiosis, mitosis and the cell cycle. We also drew diagrams for meiosis and the cell cycle, drilled questions from the review book and her tests covering the topics we studied."
