Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today was productive. We spent a lot of our time reviewing her multiplication facts since The student only had a page of homework to do. She is starting the measurements topic in class."
"The student and I met for a session of tutoring. In this session, we first worked on order of operations. This came very easily to him, and he was able to solve all the problems, including the difficult ones with little help from me. We then moved onto reading, where he did very well on answering questions about a passage. Finally we did science, where he took notes on a passage. In all aspects he was very focused and hard working."
"The student is taking her 3-day state exam soon. We practiced problems for the exam. She is doing amazing."
"For this session, the student completed his math homework page using money skills. He also completed double digit subtraction problems with regrouping and did a great job completing all of the problems independently. We also practiced the reading comprehension skill of identifying the main idea and details of a passage."
"We played the multiplication game which the student has nearly mastered. We added factors of 11 to the game because she does well with these. Throughout our session, we went over several multiplication problems that involved two factors that were double-digit and she needed help a bit with these. However, with practice she started to answer each of these problems by herself with little to no assistance. She had a positive attitude about the material we covered throughout the session even though there was new material and difficult problems. She mentioned that her teacher gave her a timed quiz for both addition and multiplication and she did better with multiplication, which shows the progress we have made throughout our sessions. From now on, I will integrate timed sets of addition problems into our sessions in order to increase her ability to add quickly."
"During our session today, the student worked on her homework for the first 15 minutes. After she completed that, I had her work on a few math exercises. I had her work on different addition and subtraction problems to help her understand the concepts of "carrying" when adding and "borrowing" when subtracting. I noticed that she had some difficulty understanding these concepts, therefore, I spent most of our time teaching her how to solve several problems. She was able to grasp the concepts after working on them on her own. I left a math worksheet with her, so she can work on a few math problems every day until our next session. Her mother agreed to assist her with this assignment. She did well overall in today's session."
