Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over some specific types of stoichiometry problems (mostly limiting reagent). I left her with some practice problems to try on her own."
"We covered limiting reagents. The student solved problems more quickly towards the end of the session and understood the concepts of limiting reagents."
"We went through a review of topics for the final and then worked on some physics problems for the final."
"I continued working with the student on his chemistry packet and the concepts that went along with it. During this previous session we focused on continuing our work on thermodynamics and calculating the total delta H for multi-stage reactions using bond energy tables. The student did a great job throughout the lesson, and was able to complete many of the practice problems on his own, showing he had a very good grasp of the concepts."
"The student has a lab quiz today, so we reviewed for that. We found the percent of reactants given a product and a limiting reagent. We also dealt with error and all of the places it needs to be applied in error calculations which is every situation that numbers with uncertainty are added, subtracted, multiplied, or divided. We also talked about precipitate forming to determine the limiting reagent which she knew very well. I believe she will do well on her lab. After that, we worked through some homework problems that are going to be on her exam on Thursday. We covered partial pressures, partial vapor pressure, Raoult's law, Dalton's law, and equilibrium, which they haven't covered in class yet. She is going to work through more of the homework problems similar to what we did today, and we will meet Thursday before her test for a review of things that are unclear."
"The student did great today. We went through the naming practice problems I had given her on Friday. She struggled a little with the ionic compound names, so I am giving her more of those to practice. Today we covered balancing chemical equations, identifying types of reactions, formula weights, Avogadro's number, molar mass, and unit conversion. She picked up on the material quickly. I am going to send her new problems to practice before Wednesday."
