Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I studied for her upcoming exam. We made flashcards based on 5 pages of notes. We reviewed domains of life, bacteria, and viruses. We focused mostly on vocabulary. We will review this material on Thursday."
"The first meeting that the student and I had together went really well. She had an exam study guide to practice from. Beyond the practice exam, we did extra mole conversion where we converted from moles to molecules using Avogadro's number, converted from grams to moles, and found moles from density. The student picked up concepts really well. She was able to quickly integrate what we learned into practice."
"The student and I did solubility problems today. He did very well with the concepts and I expect he will do well on the test. Specifically we reviewed how to use "ICE" charts to calculate concentrations at equilibrium."
"This session gave the student a jumpstart on equilibrium and Le Chatelier's principle. Following the teacher's slides taken from the text, collision theory, energy of activation, and the equilibrium expression were covered before moving on to Le Chatelier's principle. The student responded well to written examples and was able to predict shifts in equilibrium with ease (and a little coaching)."
"We covered concepts in geometric optics for mirrors and lenses. After discussing how to use the thin lens equation and Snell's law, the student found the problems to be straightforward. I was happy to see her focused on writing down key rules and equations in order to solve problems."
"We covered an exam review, which consisted of a review of the following topics: Sn2 and stereochemistry, hydrating and double bonds and dehydrating alcohols, hydrohalogenation double bonds and dehydrohalogenation halogen compounds, E2 with small base vs E2 with a larger base, Newman projections, and E2 reactions on a chair."
