Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We practiced solving distance-rate-time equations that I invented for the student based off of what he was struggling with in previous sessions."
"The student did not have any particular math homework, but he wanted to meet to review various ways to solve quadratic equations and word problems. We used the session to talk about when to use what technique and how to best utilize the different techniques. He got a 95 on his last quiz."
"We went over the homework packet on factoring polynomials and studied for the upcoming quiz. The session went well."
"First session. Discussed what brought the student to tutoring, what she currently struggles with, as well as past difficulties. I looked over her textbook while she took a skills assessment. We started to go over order of operations and fraction /decimal/percent conversions. She will practice between our next session. I will review the topics for her upcoming course, and we will reinforce basic skills and progress toward topics that will be covered in her Algebra class. Her overall attitude is positive, and she is a quick learner. I look forward to helping her learn new material."
"The student and I continued on with solving of linear equations involving graphs using slope intercept form and point slope form. She has a general sense of the concept but still needs guidance as to how to use given information to arrive at the solution. For example, when two points are given to solve for the equation, she is not sure what to do with them. However, with a hint of a guidance, she is able to solve for the solution. We will continue with more on this."
"The student's class is really homing on slope and graphing slope. He would sometimes get the formula mixed up, and we spent most of our time going over strategies to increase his accuracy."
