"I met with the student for the first time tonight. We discussed the classes she's taking, which ones she finds most challenging, and in which she has difficulty keeping up with assignments. She said that algebra and physics are her most difficult courses, and she is to begin working with a tutor in those subjects soon. Of her other classes, she said that it's hardest for her to keep up in English because her teacher generally assigns work every night. In her English class, she is currently reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight from the Arthurian tales. We reviewed the assigned sections and she completed the worksheet assigned by her teacher."
"We covered mostly optics and lightly reviewed the birth of modern physics. The student was engaged and actually lead the direction the review went in. Next session we will cover mostly thermodynamics and end with some nuclear/atomic physics."
"We worked on conversation, and reviewed everything we have gone over until now. The student's pronunciation keeps getting better and better. I think the tongue twisters have helped him a lot. He is getting better at explaining his thoughts in Spanish as well."
"The student and I reviewed the math portion of her SAT test and worked through problems related to circles as well as some related to charts. The student is doing well with the actual problem but needs to be more careful when reading the questions. We also need to work on translating the information in questions into equations."
"Today the student and I continued to go over direct object nouns and pronouns. He got the correct verb list from his teacher so we were able to fix his homework from last week. After a few examples he was able to do change the nouns to pronouns by himself. He did need help conjugating -ar and -er verbs. I reminded him to keep reviewing these charts. Towards the end of the session, he asked me to help him pronounce a list of vocabulary words he had in his notebook. We went over the list a couple of times and I helped him find the definitions for some of the words. During our next session we will continue going over chapter 6 and he will work on his homework."
