Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We reviewed the student's homework, which was estimating multiplication problems involving a large number and a single digit number and then solving for the actual answer. We practiced the same skill and we finished up with her earning time to play the math game she likes on my computer. She is understanding the multiplication and currently has an A in math."
"We practiced the student's lines from her play and covered general public speaking skills. In the following weeks, we will continue practicing public speaking and engaging in dialogue. It was a good session."
"The student had some make up work left over from when he had missed a few days of school, so he was able to spend the time completing that. He worked through his science homework, which was relatively simple, but lengthy. I am getting in touch with the student's teacher to be sure that he is always on track with his work. Along with working on school work, I am going to try to encourage him to be as organized as possible."
"During this session, the student and I worked on math, Spanish, and language arts. In math, we covered writing equations from word problems, calculating the slope from 2 points given on a graph, determining the y-intercept, and creating an equation of a line. He did most of the problems on his own, but needed help figuring out the last few. He does very quick mental math, which is impressive. For Spanish, he was building sentences in the correct order. We translated the sentences to English together orally and noted how the adjectives are placed after the nouns in Spanish, which is the opposite of English. For language arts, he defined the terms on his worksheet and gave me examples for each term."
"On Monday we covered Math, History, Science, and English vocabulary. The student is currently working on fractions, decimals, and percent conversions in Math. We focused on finding patterns in the conversions to make remembering them easier. She completed her history and science worksheets and finished her weekly vocabulary assignments as well."
"We covered science and history. The student really enjoyed the science experiment and we went through the history. She understood most of it."
