"I worked with both students on the percent decimals and fractions 5th grade math lesson. We supplemented it with extra questions and variations on the provided answers."
"We worked one-on-one on math preparation questions for the math state exam, especially working on time and division word problems."
"Today, we did addition and subtraction problems. We also played a game involving money. The student also started learning how to measure."
"The student is reading an independent book called Bad Kitty. She was much happier, and did excellent on her fluency. In math, we worked on 8 times tables fluency, and she did almost perfect after some practice. Our next fluency goal will be the 6 times tables."
"We began today's session by going over the student's spelling assignment and quiz prep. We spent a good amount of time working on the three-sided relationship between spelling the word, providing a definition, and identifying a word based on its definition. Also, her class began a new assigned reading book, and she seemed engaged with this simpler and clearer story. During the summary, we focused on reading for the most important detail and putting it into our own words. I challenged her a lot this session, and she did a great job!"
"The student and I worked on multiplying fractions, mixed numbers, and understanding multiplicative inverse. We also applied these concepts to a couple of word problems that he did very well on. We then worked on solving simple equations and adding and subtracting numbers. We ended our session understanding the number line and practicing the steps involved to solve equations. I left him with some practice problems from our lesson. He was initially a little unsure of himself with equations and the negative numbers, but seemed to be on his way to grasping these concepts and using them to understand and solve algebra problems. We will review some of these tomorrow and move on to more challenging equations. He is a very bright student who is eager to learn and very attentive."
