Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student seems to be really getting the hang of counting money. I'd like to move her forward to learning more advanced "money skills", then get her started on telling time. She is seeming to understand the concept of pre-writing, and I'd like to start working with her on adding more details and description to her writing. She seems to be getting better with reading comprehension as well."
"The student and I finished working on chapter 2 today, which covered the following topics: limits at infinity, horizontal asymptotes, derivatives, rates of change, and the derivative as a function. These topics are sections 2.6- 2.8 of her book. We practiced problems for each concept from her workbook."
"The session began by the student studying the beginnings and conclusions of two texts presented to him. He compared and contrasted these texts. He then played a matching game with sample beginnings and endings of texts. Next session, Sydney and I will complete an informational report on George Washington. I look forward to working with Sydney next time!"
"The student and I worked to complete a discussion board post for her parenting class. We also continued to work on the portfolio project, making a list of all of the components we still needed to complete and starting to edit and finalize the work that she had done."
"During our session, I spent more time going over reading comprehension strategies with the student and did some work with sentence completion questions and writing prompts. While tutoring him this time, I noticed that much of his difficulties stemmed from issues regarding vocabulary and as such, gave him a packet of prefixes, suffixes, and root words to study before I left, along with 3 writing prompt questions to outline for our next session."
"The student and I covered all types of assumption questions and continued to make a lot of progress. I continue to be impressed. Over the weekend, she will take an untimed practice test and we will go over it on Monday!"
