Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We went over the student's upcoming class material in Geometry and Chemistry. We first reviewed similar triangles and proportionality, then went over various other aspects of similar triangles that are proportional, such as altitudes, angle bisectors, and medians. We then moved on to Chemistry, where we went over classification of reactions and how to predict the products of various types of reactions. Overall, the student showed great improvement, and we ended up at least a day ahead of the material."
"The student had a geometry review worksheet over triangle proofs that I helped her to complete. She has a solid understanding of the proofs and only needed guidance on a few problems. We talked about some efficient postulates and theorems that she can use in her proofs that her teacher may not have mentioned. After this, I helped her write out her weekly assignment list (better late than never!). Lastly, we went over her new chapter of vocabulary in her vocab workshop book. She said that she does not have any tests this week, but that she will have a chemistry test and a geometry test next week."
"Reviewed finding the areas of shapes that have had other shapes cut out from it. More work on vectors. Bisecting angles.
Worked most of the way through an assessment covering various vector bits, Law of Sines/Cosines and Area/Circumference of Circles."

"The quarter is ending, so we spent a lot of time reviewing the topics the student's class has covered throughout the year such as proofs, midpoint and distance formulas, and finding the surface area and volume of three dimensional figures."
"Student 1We went over how to solve for areas of regular polygons by dividing them into smaller triangles.
Student 2We reviewed the gas laws in preparation for her chem test. These included the combined gas law, PV=nRt, and Avogadro's law."

"The student and I completed her homework assignment that involved basic definitions and concepts of geometry (line, ray, line segment, plane, parallelism, perpendicular objects); The student has quickly mastered these concepts. We next turned our attention to concepts from her physical science course (valence electron, Lewis dot structures)."
"The student got an A on her most recent geometry test which is awesome and I am very glad she is getting a better handle on things. This session we reviewed her last couple of lessons that were beginning to introduce triangle congruence and then I gave her my own introduction of what would be coming in the following week because she does at times have trouble following what her teacher says in class."
"We reviewed the tests that the student was struggling with working with circles and triangles utilizing the Pythagorean theorem. We practiced problems and I tutored her in strategies utilized in working with circles, triangles, and distances in geometry. Calculators were allowed and she felt more confident in working with these shapes. She was receptive and would like to schedule another session."
"The student and I reviewed polygons, lengths and number of sides for polygons, and internal external angels of polygons. We went through the student's take home work problems and worked through all of them except the last two. Student has shown improvement from an average score of 70 to 80 thus far."
"We started the day by discussing a geometry lab together. We looked up a video of the lab. We then did a project of translations together. Last, we went through a practice test that the student did not originally do well on (on translations, reflections, and rotations). We did another practice test together and he feels much more comfortable with the material."
"The student has a quiz this week on the first two sections of chapter 5 which were dealing with midsegments, altitudes and medians of triangles. I helped him with a few questions he had on his homework and then we reviewed for his quiz. He seems to have a really good understanding of the topics and was having no troubles with the example problems."
"He didn't have any homework this weekend but he knew he had a test on Tuesday. We worked many sample problems with circles and inscribed figures. He was doing really well with the work. I also gave him a website with sample problems and examples to use as a study guide for his test."
