"I worked on counting by 4s for the math times tables with both girls. Then I focused on working with student 1 on her math homework while student 2 worked on her spelling independently. Student 1's homework covered place value and rounding with decimals. We finished the session with ten minutes of reading out of a book I selected to help the girls with decoding as well as reading comprehension."
"I helped the student work on his homework. We spent much of the time reading and discussing his history textbook. We also worked on math and grammar and we concluded by reading a chapter from his novel."
"We worked on place value, placing commas where they belong in large numbers, and writing numbers in standard form. The student hasn't learned long division yet. I taught her how to do it briefly. Then, we worked on some supplemental division with basic facts. She needs to review her multiplication tables. We did two sprints with division and multiplication by 10s. She did very well! This was from the curriculum that she participates in. She got all but 3 right! Then, we decided she would do multiplication sprints, 3 trials every session and try to beat her scores and keep track with a bar graph. She did very well! First trial 22/50, second trial 22/50, third trial 33/50. She was very proud of herself! She finished writing her fictional story and she did some editing on the first and second page for spelling, sentence structure, punctuation and capitalization. She will continue editing her draft and then rewrite the draft. I gave her some spelling homework for the words she spelled incorrectly in her writing. I suggested that she practice her multiplication facts on flashcards everyday to improve her fluency and speed."
"The student and I worked on a dystopia film analysis. She has a great attitude. She also re-wrote her English assignment and increased the word count. She said she looks forward to our Tuesday evening sessions."
"We studied for the student's math quiz. He used the proper steps essential to solving mathematical inequalities presented in the format of word problems. His basic algebra skills have greatly improved. I'm extremely proud of him! He is a great student, and I was very fortunate to have been given the opportunity to work with him. I wish him the best of luck with his academic career!"
"In this tutoring session, the student read the two paragraphs in Unit 8, and we viewed the vocabulary and grammar points in them. In addition, we also did the interactive and conversational exercises based on the unit 8 grammar points. She did very well on these exercises. The conversational exercises we did were really helpful and efficient to encourage her to speak Chinese in a meaningful way."
