Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We studied L'Hopital's theory and the mean value theorem. We also did problems on linear approximations. He has a test on Wednesday and seems to have a good grasp of the material."
"This session the student and I went over more about volume integrals. Specifically, we reviewed the material we did last time (which the student retained) and then we covered another type of volume integral: the use of geometric shapes. The next method we focused on was how to integrate to find volumes using geometric shapes. I also selected specific problems from the book that the student should do during his designated calculus practice times. I plan to check up on his completion of this material during our next session."
"We began reviewing for her final. She did very well even though some of it took a bit to remember. I think she stands a good chance of doing well on it."
"Today the student and I discussed the amount of work required to pump water out of tanks of various geometries. He had a good understanding of the general concept of work, but needs more practice using geometry to develop the necessary expressions to evaluate these problems. The student had a positive attitude about the material we covered."
"We went through a review of the student's integration by parts homework, which was mostly double applications of the formula. We also went over volumes of solids of revolution (both washer and cylinder methods), areas between curves, and a bit of differential equations. Great session!"
"We worked on first fundamental theorem of integral calculus. Simple integrals, solving simple integrals using the power rule. Differentiating between a definite and an indefinite integral. Constant of integration and its importance."
