Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We spent much of the session on a math assignment. The assignment involved basic math using decimals and fractions. The student multiplied and divided well. She needed help with the concept of common denominators. We worked on using improper fractions and common denominators until she was comfortable with the process. We then worked on a reading comprehension assignment. She easily completed the assignment. She worked hard throughout the session."
"The student had a test the next day, so we reviewed the entire chapter. The concepts we reviewed were statistics, binomial distribution, normal distribution, and hypothesis testing. He had a bit of difficulty with binomial distribution, so we did extra practice on that."
"During this session, we covered some very complex research topics, including causal inferences and true experimental designs. We focused heavily on the logical aspects of research design and how to determine good from poor designs."
"I gave the student a number of problems involving integration by u-substitution to help him get a better feel for how to select a suitable u-value, make substitutions for all x terms (including dx), and recognize functions and multiples of their derivatives in the integrand. I included one definite integral that must be solved by u-substitution and two methods to evaluate the expression."
"We worked on factoring, and the student is definitely retaining the concepts. We reviewed difference of squares, trinomials with coefficients in front of the squared term ("guess and check"), and double factoring, all in the context of multiplying and dividing rational expressions and equations."
"The student reported that he took a midterm exam, and he did pretty well. I laid out for him a step-by-step procedure on how to go about solving a linear system of equations by graphing. I gave him problems for the entire session, and he handled them very well."
