Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student began his tutoring session today by beginning his second Practice Test (from the Study Guide Book). We will review this section of the practice test next time we meet. For homework, I asked him to read / review Chapter 17 Study Guide Book. Also, I asked him to complete all the middle and upper level practice drills in that chapter. He was attentive and focused on the task at hand during the entire tutoring session. Thus today's lesson was very productive."
"Today we looked at factoring polynomials with negatives and reading coordinate grids with uneven integer spacings."
"The student took the ISEE last year so he has already had a great deal of practice. He feels least confident about vocabulary and reading comprehension. To get a better idea of exactly where his problem is stemming from we looked at a practice test he completed in preparation for last year's ISEE. We seemed to have a eureka moment after I mentioned the strategy of reading a sentence completion passage and thinking of a word to fill in each blank before looking at the given multiple choice answers; he immediately showed marked improvement. It is clear to me that he is a very bright student and for a 9th grader already has an immense mastery of vocabulary. The student also has a quick and resourceful mind for Math and seemed to have no problem with the quantitative reasoning section - I think he has also made a lot of progress on his own in the year since his last ISEE."
