Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Reviewed some assignments that the student had gotten back and discussed the teacher's comments. We talked about how to explain and analyze more clearly as well as how to focus a thesis. She also wrote me a brief literacy narrative, which we discussed. Finally, we went over her upcoming assignments and considered some strategies to prepare and to keep the project in mind while doing the reading. "
"During my session with the student today we reviewed two, online, power point presentations. She did not have any handouts or homework to work on. We discussed 4 different types of chemical reactions including, synthesis, decomposition, single displacement, and double displacement. She was not initially confident in her knowledge of the material, but by the end of our session, she was able to discuss the material with much more accuracy and confidence. We scheduled a meeting next week to review before an upcoming exam."
"The student had some homework problems over conservation of momentum and conservation of energy. We were able to go over the problems he had questions on. I showed him sections of his book that would help in solving those problems. During this session we did more integrations and derivatives to solve questions involving acceleration, velocity and displacement. In the next session I plan to focus on problems he is having most trouble with."
"We continued to practice the formation and use of the present, past and subjunctive tenses. We also wrote/practiced for the test: mini essays on daily routine, things done on a vacation, and household chores."
"For today's session with the student, we covered: - Reviewed phonics homework worksheet - Reviewed vocab words homework - she wrote definitions and sentences - Completed phonics worksheet - silent consonants - Began first draft of Alice's Walker's "Everyday Use" essay - Continued reading chapters 7 & 8 of J.D. Salinger's "The Catcher in the Rye" - Ended session talking about books that she would like to read during our sessions. She likes books with some humor and mysteries.
