Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Tonight, we reviewed for a cumulative end of the year assessment on topics, including thermochemistry, intermolecular forces, solids, and liquids. The majority of the questions and concepts from the student's review guide incorporated all the concepts and how they influence one another. Specifically, we discussed how the intermolecular forces affect the properties of the molecules, including melting points, etc. We also covered phase diagrams and phase changes and how molecular properties such as intermolecular forces affect these properties."
"In helping the student prepare for her Physics final exam, we went through the multiple choice and open response parts of a previous exam. She did very well with the multiple choice but some needed direction for a ramp problem and a trajectory. She needs to go into the exam confident, and I think she will do well."
"The student was preparing for a test, so this session focused on her review materials. We discussed several problems pertaining to energy and work and several problems with friction and inclined planes. She is doing very well with the material and is gaining confidence with her application of knowledge."
"We practiced material from chapters 1-6 of the Biology book. Throughout the session, the boys were focused and seemed intent on understanding the reasoning behind each of the answers that we discussed. I talked through test taking strategies and discussed various methods for thinking through the answers to the questions we worked through. Overall, it was a productive session."
"Today, we worked on problems on universal gravitation and centripetal motion, as well as kinematics. The student was able to do most of the problems on his own with little to no help from me. I only stepped in with hints and explanations when necessary. He felt positive and confident towards the end of the session."
"We finished reviewing exam 1 and 2 for the final exam. The concepts we went over are Lewis structures, dimensional analysis, electron configuration, specific heat problems, heat of fusion, and sublimation. The student understands the material and is able to solve the problems. I advised her to make sure to look over her work on the exam before handing it in. She is well prepared for the final exam."
