"We continued to work our way through Student A's Book of Words, and also read The Little Mermaid from Student S's Princess Book. Student S practiced spelling words that end with a double consonant and "y" like "fuzzy" and "carry." We also read My Name Is, and practiced spelling and writing more words."
"The student did really well. We were able to finish his book, which means this is the first book we have been able to finish in a week's time. Much improved! We worked on "kn sounding like n." We did his sight words, which he knew all of. We worked on his reading comprehension worksheet: It was on gravity and he was able to answer all of the questions and make connections to things he does every day. When we finished the book he was able to answer all the questions and even make conjectures to plot changes and how that would have changed the story."
"We met and reviewed reading journal about "The Best Place to Read." I graded the student's blends homework from the previous session. We need to focus on word endings as blends at the beginning of words. We then reviewed sight word flashcards and created the last of the remaining sight word flash cards. The student then completed a PSI assessment that she had previously done on the first session. Student's reading level has certainly increased and she writes more fluently now. We then played a "short/long vowel sort" game where student had to correctly spell words with short/long vowels and then identify them as either short or long. Last, the student read aloud the first 30% of "Sophie's Squash," a text which was challenging but also within student's range of abilities. We will finish reading this text and review reading journal homework about the book at the next session."
