Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We conducted a reading comprehension strategies drill. I made sure to go over all of the pertinent techniques involved for maximizing success on the assessment and it seems as if the major concepts have hit for the student. I assigned her the usual homework."
"The student and I continued to prepare for the math section of the SAT by completing practice tests and solving a variety of math problems. He is becoming more comfortable with the types of problems on the test. He is also having an easier time representing unknown data with variables and solving for the unknown values. In our next session, we will need to focus on coordinate planes, equations of lines, and geometry with three dimensional figures."
"The student and I spent our whole session working on 30 analogy questions from the SSAT practice test. We went through each question, and I encouraged him to think of a clear, specific relationship between the two words before moving onto the choices. I encouraged him to write down a sentence along the lines of "If A, then B," for each sentence. I encouraged him to eliminate choices but to be careful to not eliminate a choice in which he was unfamiliar with one or both of the words. We also saw some questions in which there wasn't a clear relationship between the 2 words at the top, but a relationship between each of the words and each of the answer choices. He is a good student and I'm confident in his ability to do well on this test."
