Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"In this session the student and I reviewed his algebra class work, homework and test. He has quite the week ahead of him with a retake test along with a quiz in geometry, in addition to a quiz in algebra. I feel certain after this review session that he will do very well on his geometry test. We reviewed the previous test and I feel that he got a better grasp of the material and better understood the formulas and how to apply them to triangles. He seemed pretty certain he had a good understanding of the material, including Law of Sines & Cosines, which he had a bit of difficulty with in the past. I feel that he is starting to get a better grasp of how to apply theorems to certain problems and use the best one available. In addition to the retake James and I also covered his homework for the upcoming quiz he'll take in regards to circles, chords, central angles and length of chords. We reviewed his homework and he arrived at the correct answers for all the problems. I feel very confident that he should do well on the quiz should he retain everything we have covered. I will be having another session tomorrow in order to better prepare him and make sure he is very well tuned and ready to go. He also has a quiz in logarithms and assured me that he had a good grasp on the material. I might look over his answers next session just to make sure this is the case and he will do well on the quiz. However, the main focus of my visit will be for the geometry portion."
"The student has a test this week, so we covered what he has learned since his last test and then reviewed."
"We worked on similar triangles and how to solve problems with similar triangles. We also touched on special right triangles."
"We worked on lessons for the student's test tomorrow. We worked on similar triangles, SAS, SSS, ratios and proportions, and parallel triangles. His mom was also there and they both were very engaged in the tutoring session."
"The student worked on his homework on special types of triangles. There were Pythagorean triples to find using smaller and larger similar triangles. We also talked about properties of 30,60,90 triangles and 45,45,90 triangles and how to find different side lengths. I demonstrated some examples and he worked through the others. He did well on his last exam, which was great news."
"The student and I went over additional material to review for her geometry class. In addition to a revisit to volumes of prisms and cylinders, we covered volumes of pyramids and cones and understanding the difference. Through several practice problems, she did a great job on mastering solving for the area of regular polygons."
