Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I worked on her lab assignment on enzyme mechanism. I explained to her the enzyme mechanism in detail and solved the questions together. I used analogies to illustrate some of the concepts which helped her. With our remaining time, we briefly reviewed the concepts that will be tested on including cellular respiration and thermodynamics. I assigned her to read the chapter on cellular respiration and will be making a quiz based on it to test her understanding."
"During my time with the student we reviewed sedimentary, igneous, and metamorphic rocks. We went over how these rocks form and can be interconverted into one another. We studied definitions and the rock cycle. We reviewed the characteristics of rocks and their properties. I quizzed her on her study guide and previous quizzes. She was struggling with a few definitions and some concepts, which we reviewed extensively. I tried to link concepts to things that she can remember. By the end of the session, she had made significant progress."
"We covered Le Chatelier's Principle going over what happens when increasing or decreasing a product or reactant in an equilibrium reaction, what happens when increasing or decreasing pressure of an equilibrium reaction, and what happens when increasing or decreasing the temperature of an equilibrium reaction for both positive and negative enthalpy. We began talking about solubility and net ionic equations, as well as strong and weak acids in the Bronsted-Lowry view."
