Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I began by going over his critical reading and essay homework. He is improving a great deal on both of these sections. Next, we practiced some grammar multiple choice and math. He is doing a great job of applying all of the strategies he has learned. If he wants to maximize his score, then moving forward, he needs to focus on consistently completing practice sections and full-length practice tests. For homework, he will complete and score a timed full-length exam using Practice Test #1. He will also work on the functions practice test I sent him and complete some additional critical reading practice sections."
"The student and I picked up where we left of on the grammar section. I reviewed the concepts of misplaced modifiers and parallelism. When we moved onto a new section of writing questions after our review, he performed remarkably better. Even more important, he was able to identify the corrections (pointing out issues of parallelism and misplaced modifiers) to demonstrate that our review was now clicking and he was applying this new knowledge. We spent the rest of our time drilling parts of speech in order to talk about what errors are associated with various parts of speech. I will see in the next lesson when we continue this work how much this new heuristic has taken."
"The student and I spent 2 hours reviewing problems from the SAT Math Diag test. She is proficient in math but gets a little confused by complex problems (geometry, word problems, multiple steps). We reviewed roots, exponents, and many geometry formulas. We will meet tomorrow to cover verbal/reading."
