"The student and I worked a few problems from an online SAT Math diagnostic test so I could get a sense of what difficulty level she feels comfortable with on various topics. She did quite well so I selected medium to difficult practice questions in coordinate geometry, word problems, exponents, and fraction algebra for her to try. Next time, we will need to review set notation, rate problems, and radical simplification, but she did well on all other concepts. I will touch base again in January to pick back up."
"The student and I went through the writing diagnostic test today, as well as the first half of our essay writing seminar. We focused today on how to construct an outline and format content into an organized paper. He and I also looked at several grammar/writing problems, and examined patterns in SAT construction."
"First SAT preparation lesson. Student is significantly stronger in math than in English. Completed overview of test, covering scoring, structure, pacing, and strategy. Discussed goals and long term lesson plans, recommended preparing for spring SAT. Began work on passage analysis for SAT reading."
