Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I did some work in areas of mathematics that she was struggling with. With some work, I'm confident that she'll improve."
"For our first session, I walked the student through the critical reading portion of a practice SAT from her test prep book as a basis for discerning strategies she can use on the test. She fared well on the passage response segment, and ably worked in my advice about eliminating answers that make blanket statements or use overly judgmental language (or that are simply not addressed in the given excerpt). As a science student she feels more comfortable with the math portions of the test, but I can tell that with some boosted confidence, and added attention to subtle details, she will easily raise her scores on the verbal portions as well. I asked her to fill out some more test practice, and we will review her answers together at our next session."
"The student and I began by practicing techniques for vocabulary questions. We stopped to review any unknown words. We dissected these unknown words to determine their connotations. We also looked at some writing questions that dealt with subject/verb agreement. Finally, we reviewed math questions on angles, triangle, and circles."
