"Studying for chemistry test on Wednesday of this week. Reviewed practice problems assigned from teacher. Very impressed with process for determining molar mass of molecules. Remember to label your units as you work through the problems! Especially with molar conversions using chemical reactions. Significant figures can be tricky especially when doing calculations. Additionally, converting to and from scientific notation and keeping significant figures clear can be a challenge. Will try to meet once again this week before test. Nice work this morning!"
"The student reported today that she had received a 72 on her midterm. She told me that this is the first time she passed a test this entire year. We covered a future topic on Kinetics and potential energy of reactions today. The student made detailed and organized notes based on today's lesson, and I taught her how to make concise and strategic notes. In specific we covered potential energy diagrams for endo and exothermic reactions. The student understood the concepts very well."
"We covered the motion of a charged particle in a magnetic field in the context of mass spectroscopy. The student was not present when the material was introduced in class so we covered the basic force laws for a magnetic field and particle in circular motion. Most difficulties were from this serving as her introduction to circular motion induced by a magnetic field. We discussed strategies for solving algebraic expressions and at what point to enter known data. The remaining assignment problems make good extra practice for the covered material. I also suggested reading the portion of the textbook covering this material."
