Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We worked on math skill-building activities: angles, multiplication, ordering. The student is going to work online for homework. He has raised his grades from 30's to high 60's. He is happy with the upward movement and is looking forward to making A's."
"This week the Student A and I worked on multiplying fractions while Student B worked on her Math Team homework. Their progress remains right on track as they're both very mature for their age and not to mention very brilliant mathematically."
"The student told me about the reading she did this week and how she is timing herself. I encouraged her to read a little longer each time, especially if she is engaged in the story. She rewrote statements into questions, and then she wrote a story about herself. She enjoyed writing about herself. She will continue her reading and using techniques we discussed about making predictions when she reads."
"For our first session, the student and I reviewed the unit 3 and 4 test, mainly focusing on unit 3 concepts to reassess his algebra foundation. He learns very quickly; when I explain something he understands it right away. I think the reason he has been struggling is that there is a lot of information/ terminology being thrown at him and not only is he having trouble processing all of it at once, but I think he may have trouble connecting all of these concepts to each other. This is what I hope to teach him as we continue. I want to review unit 4 during our next session before continuing onto unit 5 and preparing him for that test."
"Today, we did a general diagnostic test to see what areas of math the student needed the most focus in. I saw that she needs the most focus on algebra concepts, specifically algebra 2. She has scored high on the SAT before, so we have to better that score for the future."
"We further reinforced subject matter and did a mini practice test/review. The student understands the concepts required to pass the math assessment exam. She plans to do some studying, like memorizing formulas, but other than that, she appears to be ready for the exam."
