Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the Pythagorean theorem thoroughly for a test that the student has coming up. He has an excellent attitude toward his math, and it is reflecting in the scores that he is getting on his tests. The student scored an 89% on his last test. We are focusing a 3 dimensional Pythagorean problem and I showed him how to approach that kind of problem and he understood it well."
"Most of the session focused on reviewing for an upcoming Algebra exam. Some of the specific topics we focused on were the Pythagorean Theorem, solving word problems about linear motion, and solving domain and range questions. We finished the session with a few questions she had about a Chemistry lab experiment. Specifically, calculating molarity for a titration reaction. I would recommend more general review of titrations and understanding equivalence points."
"The student and I reviewed homework problems related to topics previously covered, including multiplying/dividing/adding/subtracting polynomials. He seemed to do well with these, so we moved on to factoring and he seemed to remember it after a bit of practice."
"The student is taking an exam on Friday so we covered the review material from the book. I feel confident (so does he) that he will get an "A" on this exam. He received a B+ on the previous exam so we are confident! I asked him to email me what his grade is on the exam."
"The student had a worksheet on equations of conical sections. We graphed several ellipses, hyperbolas, and circles! She seems to have the whole process down smoothly, although there were a couple of equations with large coefficients that were an issue. She said her last test was difficult, she understood the concepts, but didn't know what to do on specific problems. We also went over completing the square and I sent her a resource explaining the procedure. She also plans to ask her teacher for more clarification on the process."
"We addressed a few questions she had with her last practice exam and began her latest one. There are still some new items we're studying like graphing equations and plotting on a number line. Other problems she excels at such as simple logic/word problems. She mostly can solve simple linear equations and is very good with multiplying fractions and doing percentages and decimals. With a combination of her studying on her own, the flash cards, good rest and the remainder of our sessions, she'll be ready for her exam."
