"The student and I continued practice with grammar rules and sample problems from the writing section of the SAT. We discussed strategies for the essay and came up with additional examples that he could pull from when writing his essay. We looked at sample essays and discussed the pros and cons of them. We also discussed common vocabulary words and grouped them into categories to help him remember them."
"I gave the student an overview of the ASVAB, the important sections for his career goals, and explained the overall process of taking the ASVAB and what to expect the day of. We then did practice questions to gauge his preparedness level."
"We reviewed 2 writing sections and 1 math section that I had assigned for homework. He did very well on all of them. Then we worked through 30 math problems that I created for him. Math is the area where he has the most room for improvement, and the problems that I selected were on topics that he had had some trouble with previously (e.g., rectangles/rect. prisms inside of cubes, combinations and permutations, calculating the area with overlapping shapes, etc.). Because the test is coming up, I assigned him 1 writing, 1 reading, and 1 math section to keep everything fresh in his mind. I also suggested that he review the prefixes, roots, and suffixes document that I created for him. Overall, I think he is doing very well. His reading and writing scores are high, and his math scores are definitely improving with the extra practice."
