Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Following last session's assessment and analysis, I compiled a new set of exercises to continue developing and testing the student's mathematical knowledge and skills. Warm-up exercises focused on equations of lines, which she did very well on, and the remainder of the session's work centered on more advanced Upper Level ISEE mathematics. Skill sets covered in today's session: patterns and arithmetic sequences, and data analysis and probability. These exercises were timed and notes were documented. Our next session is scheduled for Monday, at 8 AM."
"Today we started by going over a problem that the student had questions on from last week. I had asked around to find a better way to solve it so we walked through that together and talked about how there are sometimes tricks within the questions and if you can find them you might have an easier or faster time answering the question. Then I had her do a 10 problem drill, pulled directly from a practice test. We walked through her mistakes and then did problems with similar styles to those she got wrong. For the rest of the session we worked on questions with charts and graphs. She was a lot more attentive this session so I appreciate her effort today!"
"Student 1 continued to work on the assessments review guide, specifically the reading comprehension and math achievement portions of the exam. In math, Student 2 was introduced to percent of increase, multiplying and dividing exponents, and how to convert between standard form and scientific notation. For homework, student 2 will continue to complete an assigned diagnostic test so I can gauge her weak areas and what she needs to focus on in order to improve. She is focused and she did a good job today with two new sections."
