Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student didn't have any materials from school but we worked on the Imperfect Tense-reviewed rules for conjugation of regular verbs and completed practice exercises. She has a firm grasp on conjugating the Imperfect Tense and is able to correctly translate ideas from Spanish to English. Next session will continue with the Imperfect-irregular verbs and when to use the tense."
"We went over our personal introduction and sports. The girls where able to write, speak and listen to the target language. They struggled the most speaking in the target language, but both of them where extremely eager to learn and were willing to follow my lead."
"The student has an oral test in two days. I helped him to prepare and practice his answers. He knows many verbs, nouns, and grammar rules so far. He enjoys creating phrases that relate to his likes and thoughts."
"We did a grade check, and the student's grades are continuing to hold steady at the middle B range. We spent the time today going over her biology study guide for her final. She just needed some information here and there on things she did not completely understand, not the entire packet. I would say it was about half the packet we went over. She was very active in trying to find the answers on her own using her own notes and flashcards, and then we would discuss any points she was not clear on or did not have a complete picture about. This is our last tutoring session with this family until at least July. She did a great job and I know she will do well on her final."
"We covered conjugation of verbs the student uses often. We covered vocabulary helpful for his needs. His attitude was excellent. I included the strategy of "lifting" whole sentences he hears native speakers use, repeating those sentences, using them, and then "plugging in" new verbs and vocab to that structure. I included some cultural nuances and refranes. He will be receiving multiple extra practice exercises from me over the next few days."
"After quick introductions and assessment, we reviewed the material that the student's been working on - Introductions, numbers, likes and dislikes (gustar). He's working hard to really grasp the material. He is very driven and is really a hard worker! Repetition and practical application will be key."
