Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I met Tuesday to review material for a test she is making up. We went over special relativity which was a sizable section on her exam for some reason, and discussed time dilation and length contraction. We went through a few free fall problems, and then moved on to projectile motion. She knows her formulas and mathematics very well. By the end of the session, she was much better at picking out implied information in the problem and was answering questions much more quickly and accurately."
"We reviewed for the student's physics test today. We mostly talked about the relationship between impulse, momentum, and force. She was having a little trouble distinguishing between some of these concepts because they're so similar, but she was able to pick up on the very subtle differences by the end of the session. We also worked on a little bit of her pre-cal homework involving hyperbolas."
"-We covered power, work done, and forces. -The student needs to work on standard units and forces in certain directions."
"Today we covered electric currents. We discussed power, voltage, current, resistance, and their connections. We discussed Ohm's law and how to solve for different quantities. We went through many conceptual examples with respect to how quantities change with each other. We went through the basics of circuits and what resistivity was. We then covered the difference between AC and DC circuits and how to calculate power, voltage, and current in AC circuits. We have now covered all the concepts on his equation sheet for his upcoming exam. I believe we will be meeting once more before Monday for final preparations."
"We did some work on momentum conservation. The problems were mostly from a review sheet from the student's class. He is really good at solving momentum problems, and it seems to be his strong point. He was very confident in working out the problems as well as figuring out what the question was asking, which really impressed me. He was also able to do well with the practice problems I gave him."
"We reviewed physics involving spring constants and angular motion. Once the pieces were established, the student had no problem doing the algebra to understand how to extract the desired answer. She will complete the problems on her own."
