Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We started our review for the student's final test. We reviewed the first two of four chapters. The chapters serve as introduction to the concepts of derivatives and integrations, covering domain/range of basic functions, as well as existence of limits and continuity. She kept notes as I explained the points to her. We then practiced with problems from her textbook and quizzes and exams. We plan to have two more sessions to focus on the next two chapters and a final summary."
"Today we worked on systems of equations, mainly focusing on substitution. We reviewed slope and intercept as well."
"We reviewed the problems I assigned last session. We then covered the Chain Rule, and he fully understood it. We then covered integration by substitution. I assigned him problems to work on, and bring to our next session."
"The student and I covered integration, definite integrals with exponents and logs, finding net area vs total area and using calculators. I mentioned shortcuts to calculating integrals by hand. Lastly, we introduced the mean value theorem and uses."
"We went over Riemann sums including the right hand, left hand, and midpoint rule. We also talked a little about the relationship between acceleration, velocity, and position. The student struggled the most with how to use the right and left hand rules to approximate an integral. I came up with a few more examples during the session and he was able to handle them."
"Topics covered: periodic functions, right triangles, trigonometric functions, Pythagorean theorem, inverse trigonometric functions. The student has a great understanding on all the concepts we covered. He received a 95 on his last exam."
