"We reviewed homework re: similar triangles, specifically that a line connecting two sides of a triangle and parallel to the third side creates similar triangles and 3 parallel lines with two transversals."
"For this meeting, we worked primarily on unit circles. He had only just started the section and hadn't been given homework from his teacher for the section. This allowed me to pick and choose ones to start to gauge his preliminary understanding with the subject. After a few of the questions, we went to the unit circle and went through the coordinates and ways to understand the differences between all of them. After giving him these tricks we went back to problems and continued on. After showing he knew what was going on, I introduced him to cosecant, secant, and cotangent functions. After a few problems of this, we took a break and went back to the unit circle itself. I then had him tell me the coordinates for random ones that I could give him. He was able to answer them while looking at the circle and this included ones that were over 2 (pi). It is the intention that next time we will try a little more advanced refresher with him not looking at the circle. The student did bring his chemistry material this week. Considering we had gone over the lab on Tuesday, I had him explain it to me again as a refresher and then tell me what was going on in his notes. From there we went into mole fractions and ways to test the pH of a solution. Throughout the aspects today, I included many past experiences that I have had during my research. He enjoyed the applications to real studies of others and it seemed to spark curiosity."
"The student and I spent the first portion of our session together reviewing his online grades for each of his classes to check his progress. We went through each of the student's missed assignments and wrote out which teacher he needed to contact tomorrow. He is planning to follow up on his biology, US History, geometry, and technology assignments on Friday and will report back in next session. Additionally, we reviewed enlargement and reduction of triangles and other figures in geometry. The student was adept at being able to determine the ratio of reduction and enlargement and was able to complete his 6 homework practice problems well. Additionally, we reviewed a few other problems that I had created and spent some time going back over how ratios are created and how similar triangles are compared."
"The student and I went over the concepts for his upcoming test, which included special right triangles, Pythagorean theorem, sine, cosine, tangent, and angles of elevation and depression. We went over each section and then proceeded to go over additional practice problems."
"Today we went over similar polygons and went over her homework. She understood the material really well and didn't have to spend too much time on it. I have asked her if she would like to have some extra problems for more practice. We will be either meeting on Monday or Tuesday of next week depending on her schedule."
"The student worked through a retake test. The topics on the retake test included right triangle trigonometry, the Law of Sines, and the Law of Cosines. We had a good session and covered a lot of material. I left the student some notes that I made regarding the material covered."
