Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"He has an exam tomorrow, and we reviewed for chemical kinetics. He has a good understanding of the concepts. He can answer both conceptual and calculation problems."
"He has a quiz coming up on elements. It is pretty straightforward, and he knows how to study for it. We spent most of the session discussing science fair ideas and possible complications/considerations."
"The student and I focused on chemistry today. She's begun a chapter on the properties of gases, so we worked on the section review questions. We also talked about some concepts from last semester, which include the Periodic Table, electron configurations, and some stoichiometry basics. It's going to take a bit more time to get fully caught up, but it should go a little faster now that we have the rest of the materials from last semester. She did a good job!"
"We went through geometry. I explained the concepts that the student needed help with. We started from the beginning of the packet and we went through most of the questions. I explained the rest, and the way that she has to do them. She is doing well, but she needs to practice more. We will continue to work on this."
"Today we began review for the student's final exam. This included a thorough review of stoichiometry, solubility rules, and types of reactions (single replacement, double replacement, combustion, synthesis, decomposition, etc.). We will continue our review tomorrow."
"The student and I reviewed topics in stoichiometry and continued to balance equations. We also worked through a worksheet for her final exam. We covered topics in molecular geometry, drawing Lewis dot structures, and spent a considerable amount of time working through word problems. Specifically, we worked through problems that involved determining the rate limiting reaction and percent yields."
