"Today we worked on estimating integrals using left, right, and midpoint formulas with 3-6 intervals. We also applied this on problems in physics such as distance traveled by the accelerating car, and total volume leaked out of a vat. Finally, we evaluated some definite integrals and combinations thereof given by partial intervals. The student is well versed in these problems."
"In this session, the student and I worked primarily on where a function is either increasing or decreasing over its domain. We did this by taking the derivative of the function and setting it equal to zero. She understood how to take the derivative of the function and had no trouble performing this task. However, her algebra needed a little bit of work, so we spent a lot of time working through the equations we got for the derivative and methods on how to solve for x. Once we got through this hurdle, we were able to move more rapidly through the problems. We finished this session by discussing her classes for next semester."
