Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Studied for the student's upcoming science test on cells. She made a review sheet detailing cell theory, the difference between plant and animal cells, and the organelles and their functions. I then quizzed her on the content of the review sheet and she identified all the organelles on unlabeled cell diagrams and stated whether each was structural or functional. We reviewed the organelles in many ways (asking which organelle does a particular function, asking what function a given organelle performs, and identifying an organelle on a cell diagram and then stating everything about the organelle), and she was surprised by how much of the she knew. Although she is feeling confident, I would recommend another quick review tomorrow to ensure the material is still fresh on test day."
"The second of two sessions to prepare the student for his history and physics final. I made every effort to cover as much of his physics final review guide in our extended sessions, as this was our last session before his finals. From my best estimation, he made good progress on the study plans he and I laid out in the previous session for both finals. I left him with several clear and definitive objectives to round out his studying before finals."
"The student and I continue to review for his midterm exam. We spent one hour on cellular respiration and photosynthesis. We spent the final 30 minutes covering genetics. We then interpreted a number of pedigrees for autosomal and recessive disorders and predicted the likelihood of genotypes and phenotypes in offspring."
